This is a great product for me. I’ve purchased tons of headphones under $75 and this is the best deal yet. It’s ridiculous to spend more than that on headphones I say. I was really happy about the price. It was probably the only good deal at the Sony store on madison and 56th, NYC.

The noise control is great without the noise control function. It doesn’t kill loud noise like loud talking but air, hiss, and most traffic is tuned out. It also cancels out annoying managers and supervisors.

I’m trying to find some more detail on this condition but when I turn on the noise reduction I feel pressure in my head. I don’t know if it’s the soundwaves pressing against my ear canal but it feels like my head is swelling. strange. I’m sure this will be the leading cause of deafness 10 years from now. Until then i’ll enjoy the GREAT SOUND!

These headphones sound very good. Very clear guitar/vocals/horns, good clear base (but not overpowering thankfully). Make individual instruments sound distinct like a good stereo should. The passive noise canceling of the cushions is quite good, and the active noise canceling removes the low frequency hum that is in many environments from cars to offices to home. Only complaint is that they make my ears slightly soar after a couple hours, but since headphones that aren’t attached to my ears wouldn’t be headphones, and since they’re inexpensive for the high level of quality sound, I definitely recommend these.

I’ve owned a lot of pairs of headphones, so I should have known better to buy noise canceling headphones at this price point but with limited time on my hands I took a chance on these expecting that the sound quality may not be great but perhaps with noise canceling still better overall the headphones you normally get free on a plane. Wrong!

The sound coming from these headphones is dull and lifeless even after adding moderate EQ on my player. It also seems to take a lot of power to drive these even when you have a battery installed and they’re turned on, so you’re going to need to crank up the volume on your player much more than usual.

As to the noise canceling, I barely notice any effect when it’s turned on. I can still hear what’s going on around me perfectly well. If anything it sounds like a small volume boost, and I’m unconvinced that it isn’t anything other than that. The biggest noise-reducing factor of these headphones are the ear pads, which actually seem to close reasonably well.

Don’t waste your money on these. I spent 20 seconds with a pair before wishing I hadn’t.

Reduced white noise from my air conditioning unit by 50%. Comfortable for me. A great value I believe.

So I was looking for some noise canceling headphones to use while I practice playing drums on a practice pad kit. Without much research I stopped into best buy just to see what they had. A small selection and wanting to stay around the $50 mark made these and another ‘youth-designed’ (ie skulls on them) my only choices. I read up on them a little in the store, ran over to another store looked at what they had, as a result I figured these would be perfect.

I tried these on, and was disappointed that these headphones were ‘on ear’ instead of ‘around ear’. Seems like the job of canceling noise would be much easier if they just went around the ear. Plugged these into my iPod and just listened to them without the noise canceling feature turned on. They sounded like absolute dirt. Distant and muffled. If I just wanted to plug these in and not waste the battery of the NC feature they would be unlistenable. Turned on the NC feature and it sounded a lot better. Still not great, but a lot better than with the NC feature off. I paused the music with the NC feature on and tried to listen to the TV at normal listening levels. It did a pretty good job. I don’t know if it cancelled out the ‘87%’ it says on the box, but not bad really.

I took these to the basement to give them a try while playing drums. Now I was not expecting miracles, but I wanted something a little better than my normal $15 ‘on ear’ headphones that I use while on the computer or my ipod ear buds. These did cancel noise, but really it was so little I was frustrated with the expense. I used to play drums listening to the big iconic Pioneer headphones from the 70’s. I was expecting at least as much as that, these did not deliver. Also because of the ‘on ear’ design, moving my head quickly rocked the headphones off my ear for a split second creating an echo chamber or doppler-effect, it was extremely distracting while trying to listen to the music.

I returned these after about a total of an hour or two of playing them.

Maybe these are specifically geared toward people that would only use them on a plane, which they would probably be pretty good for. But anything else, and anything that has you moving would not work. Also the sound that these produce is not very good, my cheap $15 computer headphones sound better than these. I was relieved that I was able to return these.
